Why is it that some who are bullied and broken,

Rejected, yet used by the right as a token,

For hundreds of years to keep their blood “pure” they married their cousins so they could ensure a blue blooded line would be their succession. Above all the rest, they’d be best without question.

But then they seemed changed when William met Kate. “Look we’re evolving and changing our fate”! We opened our doors! Let a commoner in. In just a few years we’ll forgive her, her sin. My daughter’s whole family just had to move

Inalienable rights we still have to pursue.

Why must we march, begging for rights?

How many believe, “I’m not a racist”?

If you question their hate they always say this.

When they don’t believe in systemic racism.

If a person of color has their status upgraded,

They’d better be grateful enough or they’re hated.

If you can’t deny all of these things you’re a racist.

Unconscious or conscious these two are the basis

Of racism’s hold on our lives and our systems.

If we don’t call it out we can never resist them.

And heal from within, then from inside to out.

To change people then systems and bring this about

The ones who are healing racism must say this

Make America great again?? Was America great when we first began?

Were all people equal with inalienable rights? No, just the wealthiest men who were white.

Were we great when we conquered and wiped out the natives? When we marched who was left to their forced reservations?

When we kidnapped black people by force and enslaved them? Then “freed” them with promises, we never gave them?

When we didn’t help Jews fleeing from Nazis? Our country is guilty, we did these atrocities.

Born into my world with discomfort and strife.

I didn’t have boundaries most of my life.

Told, where to go, what to do, everyday.

But what the hateful right can’t see is he will shoot them too.

He tried to warn you in his poem that you should let him freeze.

Her heart and soul would change the world. A bold, courageous, little girl walked with Marshals into school, as racist mobs would ridicule, this six year old with racist slurs. And still her heart was not deterred.

Miss Henry taught her all alone. Empathy was rarely shown by students as she faced the fear of hatred spewed at her for years.

All this to get an education?? She learned we are a racist nation! Yet never missed a day of school. Though every day was hard and cruel.

Is there rhyme and reason, for where we are today?

Can these days of crime and treason, be thought or prayed away?

Will we survive these darkest days and find some resolution

is to make most choose to stop all this, become a time and season.

Why do some cling to patriarchal systems? Some men want return to old ways to assist them in getting a keeping a wife that can’t leave. Tied into a system they’re taught to believe was created by god to procreate children. That being a wife and a mom should fulfill them. But what this creates is two lives without growth. This imbalance of power will stifle them both.

Men have to learn that coercion of women will not get them love, because love’s freely given. Love can’t be forced or kept in a cage. We must move forward into a new age. A man must respect and show love to attract a woman who stays for true love not an act. And together support the dreams of each other. If that’s a career or a father and mother. They can grow and expand because they are free. All can become who they’re meant to be.

Patriarchal roots feed most toxic systems.

Most see the problems, most choose to dismiss them.

Misogyny, homophobia, systemic racism,

xenophobia, transphobia, extensive classism.

Groups daring protest that don’t want to yield

So women, black people, and LGBTQ

who work ten times harder to make upward moves,

are blamed for the downfall of men who once worked

in the top jobs held mostly by men with huge perks.

Now they can’t handle the truth that some face.

The ones given chances, worked hard, now replace

these men who in privilege who sailed to the top

we’re just average joes who now want to stop

all those thought below them,”inferior people”.

The ones who know well innate rights make us equal.

Who stand on their own and are rightfully prized

I really don’t like the holiday season.

I just like the days that don’t have a reason.

No reason to clean or to cook for two days,

no reason to small talk a whole day away.

I don’t like the stress of high expectations.

Putting up, taking down, the fake decorations.

most of the work to prepare and get through.

Rights for all people with fair and just laws. Healthcare, housing, and food for us all.

Once again, we are called to Civil disobedience.

When a rouge Supreme Court is not freeing, it’s impeding us.

A poem I read, said people of color, who protest and stand up for their race,

create more racism which carries it further, so should stop standing up and embrace

what the “color blind” say: “Skin colors don’t matter, we only see what’s deep inside.”

“If people of color would all get together and simply choose to decide

that racism’s over and everyone’s equal; stop saying their rights are denied,

So people whose rights are denied by false laws

can embody the truth, innate rights transcend all.

Create whole new worlds on the ashes of lies,

innately true worlds, where Phoenix’s rise!

I am finally awake and fully aware.

Half of this country has proved they don’t care,

about human rights or the freedom of others.

They don’t give a shit about daughters and mothers,

or black and brown people, or LGBTQ.

Not feeling our pain? You’ll feel it soon.

When a country guts freedom and half lose their rights,

But as I stood in line to vote my gut began to know,

Should our Natives, farther south,

be begging for asylum

in lands they held ten thousand years

before we could deny them?

When the white man, as invaders,

by mere presence, claimed command,

enslaving sovereign people,

and stealing native land?

Is this why their descendants

turn their backs on native souls?

Don’t want long lost survivors

reclaiming what they stole.

Until we open up our hearts,

share wealth with native people,

help all of the Americas

be prosperous and equal,

our karma for the trail of tears

will keep us building walls,

to keep out native people

who in truth should have it all.

Forever flawed, and silent bell,

Still, liberty is not for all.

Pursuits of happiness in life,

For many still, it’s mostly strife.

Until we all have equal rights,

The parts within our whole will fight.
