I felt safe in my country for 59 years.

For the last seven, I am anxious with fear.

Democracy’s fate is deeply in danger.

Fascists are taking our rights with such anger.

They want to go backwards and live in the past.

Don’t want to cast votes, want stones to be cast.

We can’t accept loss of inalienable rights

By a court, that unjustly, was stacked to rewrite

The laws we thought settled a long time ago.

Pretending our progress was only a show.

We only have hope if we save our Democracy.

Our founders were clear we are not a theocracy.

We must reinstate, church and state, separation,

Let laws progress and address reparation

Of rights to all people so none should have fear.

So, at present, and future, all have safe golden years.
