A poem I read, said people of color, who protest and stand up for their race,
create more racism which carries it further, so should stop standing up and embrace
what the “color blind” say: “Skin colors don’t matter, we only see what’s deep inside.”
“If people of color would all get together and simply choose to decide
that racism’s over and everyone’s equal; stop saying their rights are denied,
then those stops by the cops that sometimes turn lethal would end when they start to comply.”
Why can’t they feel how demeaning it is to say racial abuse is their fault?
Do they really not see how obscene this shit is, if denied, it all comes to a halt?
Unconscious denial keeps racism going, and repesses white privileged shame.
They prefer “color blindness” and denial of not knowing they’re giving survivors the blame.
When we finally atone for enslaving black people and heal racist systems we’ll find,
without shame we’ll embrace diversity’s colors, celebrate we are not color blind.🌈
