Neurodivergent

If you feel overwhelmed when tasks become urgent,

You might just be, neurodivergent.

If you like to keep things or you’re constantly purging.

You might just be, neurodivergent.

You replay what you say and rehearse other versions,

You might just be, neurodivergent.

If you don’t like demands and they must be averted,

You might just be, neurodivergent.

If you’d rather be home and alone, introverted,

You might just be, neurodivergent.

If attention takes flight when your sight is diverted,

You might just be, Neurodivergent.

Classist systems and justice you know aren’t convergent

You might just be, Neurodivergent.

If you fight for all rights like a warrior insurgent.

You might just be, Neurodivergent.

We came to this world to transform, be emergent,

To change our direction to a new road divergent.

Caws and effects

Unsplash

For years I have worked, almost everyday,

To clear my unconscious I once hid away.

Deep fear and sadness, anger and shame,

That made me project and unconsciously blame.

Like clock work the cycles would come back around

Delusions created with feelings unbound.

But I would get signs to help me to wake.

From crows constant cawing to dreams of earthquakes.

These unconscious cues of things yet to come

I needed to feel to stop being numb

Awaken to heal so I wouldn’t project

Delusions on others and stop to reflect.

So many times now, I have been saved

From hurting my loved ones, myself, and my fate.

So I’ve learned how to stop recreating mistakes,

From the caws of the crows and effects of earthquakes.

Natives

Should our Natives, farther south,

be begging for asylum

in lands they held ten thousand years

before we could deny them?

When the white man, as invaders,

by mere presence, claimed command,

enslaving sovereign people,

and stealing native land?

Is this why their descendants

turn their backs on native souls?

Don’t want long lost survivors

reclaiming what they stole.

Until we open up our hearts,

share wealth with native people,

help all of the Americas

be prosperous and equal,

our karma for the trail of tears

will keep us building walls,

to keep out native people

who in truth should have it all.

Liberty Bell

Forever flawed, and silent bell,

A metaphor that fits us well.

Fits our Declaration’s flaw

Still, liberty is not for all.

Pursuits of happiness in life,

For many still, it’s mostly strife.

Until we all have equal rights,

The parts within our whole will fight.

Til cracks are seen in silent bells

As metaphor, and breaks the spell

Of lies that we have ever been

Free for more than just white men.

Til reparations pave the way

To live what Declaration’s say.

Self evident when all are equal,

Inalienable, all rights, all people.

Words and bells don’t make it real

True liberty, we all must feel!
